Homestay Experience in a hidden village

Once upon a time, there lived a girl in a village by the river called Kunowaki and on the other side of the river, there lived a boy in a village called Jina.
Now, you can imagine how this old story went, right, they fell in love each other and got married, and here I introduce the village stay program in the girl’s village.
From the main road, the village can be seen over the Oi River. To reach there, you have 2 options, walking or driving across the bridge or, exploring the suspension bridge.

The village is standing on a small hill, isolated, and you will find beautiful farms and tea plantations. After the bridge, you walk a minute and leave your luggage in the accommodation and wait for the guide coming in the shop.

The basic plan comes with a guided village walk. As options, ① soba making and lunch, ② farm experience, and ③ tea experience, are available upon request. My favorite course is a hike to the local shrine. It was originally established deeper in the mountain but said one day, a god appeared in a man’s dream, telling to build it at the place where it is now for people’s convenience.

Once you walk up on the top of the hill, a stunning view is waiting !

After you are walking back to the accommodation, enjoy experiences with your host family. Harvesting, cooking, chatting and more ! This program makes you possible to experience our traditional local life in a quiet village. No convenience store, no karaoke, finding a vending machine is not easy but if you like to indulge yourself in an isolated village, this is it !
