Mt.Fuji/Kofuji hiking program

Hiking start from Subashiri 5th station, one of the entrance of climbing Mt.Fuji. While the mountain is open, you have to leave your car at the road station Subashiri(free parking) if you come by your own car or a rental car. Then you can take a shuttle bus, a local bus or a taxi to Subashiri 5th station.(All costs money) If you come by taxi from the bottom of the mountain, you can go straight up to the 5th station.

On Aug 14th, it was sunny at Oyama town, the foot of Mt.Fuji, but it was cloudy at Mt.Fuji. You can barely see the bottom of Mt.Fuji and you are in the cloud when you go up.

Kofuji, 1,978 meters above sea level, is a flank volcano at the eastern base of Mt.Fuji. Kofuji hiking rout starts right after you passed shops at Subashiri 5th station. This walking trail takes only 30min one way, so about an hour for a round trip course.

We were in the cloud all the way, but it was kind of mysterious feel and wonderful. There are many rare plants making it a good course for nature observation.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to see Mt.Fuji on this day, but if the weather is good you can see the majestic mountain from here. Below are the pictures from other time we went when it was sunny. Please see the beautiful view. You can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the peak and foot of Mt.Fuji.
